A celebration of terroir, time, and a passion for viticulture.

Starting over does not always mean going back to the beginning. Sometimes, it is about taking a familiar path with a sharper, more mature perspective. It was with this mindset that António Antunes and Marta Neto decided to embark on a new journey in the world of wine. After nearly two decades working with the Alentejo terroir, they felt it was time to create a project of their own—one that would fully embody their vision. And so, Rumo Vinhos was born: a declaration of love for the authenticity of Alentejo’s terroir and its native grape varieties. The name is symbolic. Rumo means direction, movement, and destiny. And for António and Marta, their destiny could be nowhere else but the Alentejo. But this is not just any Alentejo. This is a rediscovered Alentejo, expressed through carefully selected small plots and meticulous vineyard work that respects nature’s rhythms while minimising unnecessary intervention.
On this journey, they are joined by a long-time friend and partner. António Maçanita, a renowned Portuguese winemaker and consultant, has been with the couple since their earliest steps in viticulture. Their friendship translates into a profound understanding of the land, tradition, and the elements that make wine the bridge to a truly memorable experience. Together, they embark on a mission to explore the potential of indigenous grape varieties, crafting wines that speak for themselves—wines that tell the story of the soil, the climate, and the hands that guide them.
Rumo Lumina White and Rumo Incerto Red, both made from native Alentejo grapes.
Each bottle of Rumo Vinhos is an invitation to discover an Alentejo of contrasts, where tradition and experimentation intertwine. Here, winemaking is carried out with absolute respect for the raw material: indigenous grape varieties such as Tinta Caiada, Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet for reds, and Roupeiro, Arinto or Rabo de Ovelha for whites. Spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, and carefully planned ageing allow each vintage to express its full potential. The wines rest for as long as necessary, unhurried, until they achieve the perfect balance of structure, freshness, and expressiveness.
With this new beginning, António and Marta reaffirm the essence of what has always driven them: to create authentic wines of terroir, reflecting both the soul of Alentejo and their own personal story. A story that now, with Rumo Vinhos, is being written with new contours but with the same enduring passion.
